United Airlines Flight Turbulence - Pilot Was A Pro!

www.zennie62.com - I've been in Georgia for a week now - most of the time I've been sick - but I'll never forget the flight to get here. Now, I've flown thousands of times and come here each month, but the way this United Airlines flight shook while entering Atlanta airspace scared the heck out of me. Turbulence? Sure. I've felt it before a lot actually - but usually inflight, not during the end of the flight. Apparently the Georgia weather included more than a few storm clouds; because of this our landing was delayed 12 minutes. But then I guess the pilot got cleared to land because we just dived into the most terrible clouds I've seen in a while and all hell broke lose. The plane shook, at one point before the video violently (which is why I turned it on) and the Airbus A319 airframe produced this kind of loud whining noise I've never experienced before. All of this is in the video. Through it all the pilot was a pro. After that three minutes of terror so close to the airport, he landed smoothly. I guess that's why he makes the big bucks, or I hope he does. I wonder to this day if we could have waited another few minutes and gotten around those clouds. As I exited the plane, the pilot had just emerged from the cockpit; I said nice landing. Thanks. He tipped his hat and breathed a sigh of what had to be relief. Distributed by Tubemogul.

Discrimination warning over airport body scanners- The equality watchdog has called on the government to explain its plans for the use of body scanners at airports, citing concerns about racial profiling and privacy. This weekend the Equality and Human Rights Commission said it had written to the Home Secretary Alan Johnson to urge the "utmost caution" over such technology. Backscatter X-ray body scanners, which produce a ghostly naked image of their subjects, are currently in trials at Manchester Airport. The UK's largest airport operator, BAA, has said it will install machines "as soon as is practical" at Heathrow. "The Commission is concerned that that the proposals to introduce body scanners are likely to have a negative impact on individuals' rights to privacy, especially members of particular groups including disabled people, older people, children, transgendered people, women and religious groups," it said. "Under the Human Rights Act, any infringement of the right to privacy must be justified, necessary and proportionate." The Commission was set up to independently monitor Human Rights Act compliance. In the wake of Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab's failed Christmas Day bombing of a transatlantic airliner above Detroit, Gordon Brown said the government would "examine a range of new techniques to enhance airport security systems... these could include advancing our use of explosive trace technology, full body scanners and advanced x-ray technology." Tips to Make Air Travel With Toddlers Fun

Air travel with toddlers can be FUN. You can make any airplane trip an easy one. This article will hopefully help make your plane ride a joyful experience. I traveled across the country with my toddler and it was a nice trip. I have some tips that helped me and made our trip FUN.

Here is a list of a few MUST HAVE items in your carry on bag!

Bring new toys. Go buy some cheap dollar toys. You won't believe how much these will come in handy.
Bring tons of snacks your toddler likes to eat.
Crayons and Coloring Books.

Sweatshirt or jacket. The plane can get chilly. It all depends on where you are traveling to, so keep in mind the different climate changes.

Comfort Items. A blanket, pacifier, stuffed animal. Bring their comfort from home during air travel with toddlers.
Diapers and Wipes.
Sippy cup or bottle.
Books.

Baby Tylenol or Motrin. Just in case their ears start to bother your toddler you will have it on hand.

A Stroller. You can take a stroller with you. Did you know this? This makes it so easy for you to be able to stroll your toddler from gate to gate. When you board the plane, they will keep the stroller for you. The minute you get off the plane, your stroller will be right there waiting!! So don't forget your stroller, you will need it.

Make sure you keep your toddler on their same schedule before you travel.

Don't try to skip their nap and think they will sleep on the plane. WRONG. Your toddler can become over-stimulated and tired. Resulting in a very cranky child. This can make air travel with toddlers bad. Just stay right on schedule. My son slept on the plane exactly at his normal nap time. If it is possible, try to schedule your flight times around their nap times and bed times.




Try and feed your toddler before the flight.
When you travel with toddlers who are hungry, it's not good. You want them to be nice and full prior to flying.

Dress your child comfortably for the plane.
Sweats and a t-shirt preferred. Their pajamas would be even better for longer flights. Easy shoes that will come off fast are recommended. Depending on how long the flight may be their shoes are bound to come off. I put slippers on my son.

When your toddler becomes restless on the plane, here are some great tips that may help:

Bring out one of the new toys you purchased that are in your carry on. Sometimes it may not last for long, but it does get their attention for a period of time.
If the airplane has the satellite televisions turn it on the Nickelodeon channel. Our flight had the screens on the back of each seat. My toddler did not want to wear the headphones but he did watch the television to see what was going on.
Crayons and coloring books. Pull the tray table down and color a picture with your child.
You can get up and walk around with your child. You can walk up and down the aisles, or go to the restroom.
Books. You can always read a book with your child.
When the snack cart comes around get your child their own drink. Even allow them to have a choice and pick whatever they want. They will love having their own drink and snack. Air travel with toddlers can be so much FUN!!
Bring out another new toy. This will always help stimulate their minds and distract their attention.
Let them look out the window. My little boy loved it. He was so amazed and not afraid. This really helps out with longer flights.

I hope these tips work for your toddler. They worked for our family wonderfully. We had a 7 hour flight originally. Then 2 hours were added on to that because of a "repair" to our plane. We were on our plane for what seemed like forever. We managed to survive with our toddler and so can you. Have a Great Flight!
